It’s the season of giving!
Traditionally, November is a month that reminds us to be thankful and to pay it forward. We celebrate with online challenges, posting daily what things we’re thankful for and encouraging others to share as well… Giving back to those in need isn’t just an opportunity to feel warm and fuzzy, it’s socially responsible. #GivingTuesday, described as a Global Giving Movement, was founded in 2012 and encourages businesses to give back to smaller non-profits and organizations on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.
It is fueled by social media and online collaboration, and has highlighted the importance of social responsibility.
Social Responsibility is an ethical framework and suggests that an entity, be it an organization or individual, has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large. Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems. – Source
What is your business doing to be socially responsible in this season of giving?
The millennial generation is currently the majority of consumers in the United States. In time, millennials will have the biggest say in which businesses thrive or die. Now is the time to begin developing a more responsible business if you’d like to keep up with evolving societal requirements.

Giving back is a good choice ethically, but it can also help benefit your business! As we’ve seen, consumers prefer to do business with a company that is socially responsible. In addition to financial contributions, consumers appreciate transparency, trustworthiness and efforts made to engage the buyer and build a relationship.
Many brands have found tremendous success promoting their causing by adding corporate responsibility pages to their website. These can be used to share info about a cause that hits close to home, and encourage customers or clients to join in and spread the word. These pages can be shared online via social media, email newsletters and blogs! On these platforms, provide a brief bio of the foundation you’re supporting and share why it’s important that you support them. You could even offer a challenge to your followers to donate and raise money, and reward them when you achieve a fundraising goal.
